Cottage 105: El Aljibe
Located at the rear of the main house, our favourite hideaway for couples is El Aljibe. It has 1 King Size bed. The bedroom lies within the whitewashed cave at one end of the building, and it gives a very sound night’s sleep in a totally silent environment. The combined effect of earthenware tiling, washed salmon coloured walls and dark wood ceiling beams is distinctly rustic. The large bathroom features hand painted tiles, an ornate bath tub with a shower, a toilet and a wash basin. A large covered terrace is shielded by bougainvilleas, banana palms and hibiscus and features a grand-looking Balinese bed ideal for alfresco siestas.
This suite was the old stone water reservoir of the main house and the whole roof is made of volcanic stone along with large skylights. The floor area is large, made of wood and is on two levels. The upper level contains the double bed. On the lower level there is a lounge and dining room which has a sofa bed and comfortable arm chairs and sofa. There are large windows opening onto the terrace. The bathroom, with terracotta floors and hand painted tiles is light and large. The kitchen is well equipped. The garden has teak tables and chairs and a sun lounger to enjoy siestas in the shade of the pergola. The outside of the house is private and intimate as it is isolated and protected thanks to the levels of the gardens which are planted with pines, bouganvillas, bananas and other local plants. This paradise is ideal for a holiday retreat.
