The “La Geria” Retreat is situated on the side of one of the biggest volcanoes in La Geria. It enjoys 360 degree views over Lanzarote all the way to the Famara cliffs and Timanfaya National Park, and has the most spectacular lunar landscapes of the island.
The house has privileged stunning views from all the windows and is well placed for starting many walks. The best bodegas (wine producing farms) are within walking distance and there are about ten different peaks to climb.
Being in an isolated location, the house is a five minute walk to a local shop and Canarian tapas bar on the other side of the volcano. The closest village is called La Asomada. The house is very picturesque, with great views to Puerto del Carmen, the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura and the sea. One of the many highlights of being in the region of La Geria is its unique and rare moon-like landscape, which has been chosen to represent one of the best views in Europe, in a competition this year (2013) in Strasbourg.
La Geria is situated in the center of the island. The villages of Uga and Yaiza are only 5 minutes by car. National Park Timanfaya is less than 10 minutes by car. The airport is approx. 15 minutes by car.
The largest volcanic tube (cueva de los naturalistas) is only about 7 minutes by car. It is possible to organise a walk with a guide inside this cave.
Great views to mountain and valley, close to sandy papagayo beaches.
The finca has a large expanse of land surrounding it. I has walled gardens of fruit trees and grape wines that are planted in terraces in the traditional Canarian way.
There is an outdoor courtyard with comfortable furniture to have siestas, al fresco dinners or breakfast, or simply soak up the sunshine as you watch the farmers attending to their grapes.
Starry nights are spectacular and if you are fond of birdwatching many grouse, shrikes and falcons can be spotted.
